July in January
SweetWater was thrilled to be part of a new, exciting collaboration with Classical Music Festivals Canada (consisting of several music festivals including SweetWater, Festival of the Sound, Ottawa Chamberfest, Collingwood Summer Music Festival, Toronto Summer Music, and Stratford Summer Music). July in January offered music lovers a chance to enjoy outstanding chamber music performances online this past winter.
Enjoy our contribution recorded during SweetWater 2021 at the Historic Leith Church featuring the Rosebud String Quartet (violinists Aaron Schwebel and Sheila Jaffé, violist Keith Hamm, and cellist Leana Rutt) as well as cellist Julie Hereish.

Artistic Director Edwin Huizinga offers some thoughts about this special music event.
Welcome all, to Sweetwater Music Festival’s portion of this incredible winter initiative. We are so honoured to be part of it, and excited to share with you some gorgeous chamber music, some of which was featured at our 2021 festival in September. We are featuring the Rosebud String Quartet with special guest, cellist, Julie Hereish for some of the program as well. This Canadian quartet featuring Aaron Schwebel, Sheila Jaffé, Keith Hamm and Leanna Rutt are simply fantastic players. The program is Benjamin Britten’s 1st String Quartet, Opus 25, with four movements, Carmen Braden’s The Raven Conspiracy, a gorgeous Canadian composition, and finishing with the first movement of the incredibly loved and celebrated Cello Quintet by Schubert. This string quintet in C major has often been described as chamber music lovers’ favourite piece of music in the entire repertoire.
Thank you so much.
